An Accurate Map of the WEST RIDING of YORKSHIRE
“Divided into its WAPONTAKES; Drawn from surveys and illustrated with historical extracts
relative to its natural produce, trade and manufactories, Describing also the church livings,
charity schools &c By John Gibson.
The detail shows a centre segment of the plate. There is a lot of detail condensed into this
plate which has led to a reduction in the type face size. This is where your ability to enlarge
the detail on our file provided proves invaluable.
The plate includes brief notes on Rippon, Halifax, Tadcaster, Beeston, Gigleswick, Cawood
Castle, Knaresborough, Sherborn, Haslewood, Touton, Selby, Farburn, Huddleston, Leeds,
Almonbury, Doncaster, and Sheffield.
Included also is a special note on the air and the natural produce of the region at that time.”
(York is just included in the top right of the plate.)
